The ‘new’ Google logo has been refined so that the ‘imperfections’ make it work VISUALLY. Type has all kinds of oddities to make it work for the eye and designers know about them. Varying thicknesses and misalignments are intentional and necessary. The ‘perfected’ version here is horrible and awkward.
Critics are fooled into thinking that this apparently simple, almost child-like logo will have been ‘thrown together’. But as the saying goes; ‘good design is easy, because it’s so hard’.
There’s a lot wrong out there in design world.
This ain’t it.
